I raise my hydrolic cylinder on JD 4230 and it drops instead of stay?

On the loader ? Remove weight from loader , release pressure. Assuming there is no obvious leak. Disconnect lines on one cylinder only and plug lines. Leave that cylinder open, raise loader with remaining cylinder . See if it stays up . If yes , this confirm the valve is good and that cylinder is good as well. If it falls again, repeat with other side. If with either side eliminated from the circuit problem is same , likely valve might be bad.
