About the John Deere 140

Make sure you have access to your tractor serial number, because there is a chance that the John Deere 140 parts you need depend on that serial number. Usually, the serial number is printed below steering column or on the right side of tractor, just inside the hood. That serial number is determined by the year of manufacturing, so for a 1968 model, it starts with 1001, for a 1969 model it starts with 10001, for a 1970 model it starts with 22401, for a 1971 model it starts with 30001, for a 1972 model it starts with 38001, for a 1973 model it starts with 46501, for a 1974 model it starts with 56501. Some John Deere 140 Lawn Mower/Garden Tractors have a 4x2 2WD chassis, but there are also some with a differential mechanical disc (1969-1970), drum (1971 on) chassis, all equipped with manual steering. They also have integral mechanical disc (1968) brakes. The type 0 (optional) 3-point hitch is very reliable.
