About the Ford/New Holland 860

In 1954, the very first Ford/New Holland 860 Tractors went out. They were produced until 1957. Sometimes, the parts compatibility is determined by the serial number of your Ford/New Holland 860 Tractor, and that info should be listed on the part fit notes. If you don't have the serial number of your tractor, you can find it on the left-hand side of the transmission housing behind the starter. The serial number starts from 1 for a 1954 model, from 10615 for a 1955 model, from 77271 for a 1956 model, from 116368 for a 1957 model. Some Ford/New Holland 860 Tractors have a 4x2 2WD chassis, but there are also some with a power assist optional chassis, all equipped with manual steering. They also have differential mechanical expanding shoe brakes. The type I 3-point hitch is very reliable, capable to lift 1,250 lbs [567 kg]. It is also worth noting that the live rear PTO runs at 540 rpms.
