About the International Harvester 966
The first International Harvester 966 Tractors went out of the factory gates in 1971 and they kept building them until 1976. Did you find a good deal and buy the International Harvester 966 Tractor for less than the original price of $18,000 (1976)? Even if you didn't, rest assured we have plenty of International Harvester 966 Tractor parts in our inventory at 60% off dealer prices for your parts needs. Be sure to look for any serial number comments in the part fit notes. In some cases, the International Harvester 966 Tractor parts you need depend on your serial number. You can find the serial number on the clutch housing, left side. Serial numbers include 7101 from 1971 models, 11815 from 1972, 17794 from 1973, 22526 from 1974, 28119 from 1975, 31772 from 1976. Some International Harvester 966 Tractors have a 4x2 2WD chassis, but there are also some with a 4x4 MFWD 4WD (optional) chassis, all equipped with Hydrostatic power steering. They also have Independent hydraulic dry disc brakes. The type 2 3-point hitch is very reliable. It is also worth noting that the independent rear PTO runs at 540/1000 rpms. The International Harvester 966 has an open center hydraulics system with a 22.5 gal [85.2 L] capacity. The pump does the job pushing 12 gpm [45.4 lpm] fluids in the hydraulics system.
