More about the John Deere 2840

In 1977, the very first John Deere 2840 Tractors went out. They were produced until 1979. Make sure you have access to your tractor serial number, because there is a chance that the John Deere 2840 parts you need depend on that serial number. Usually, the serial number is printed on the right side of the 2840 frame, above the front axle. That serial number is determined by the year of manufacturing, so for a 1977 model, it starts with 214909, for a 1978 model it starts with 264711, for a 1979 model it starts with 304654. They also have differential hydraulic wet disc brakes. The type II 3-point hitch is very reliable. It is used with a draft sensing. It is also worth noting that the independent rear PTO runs at 540/1000 rpms. The John Deere 2840 has a closed center hydraulics system with a 12.9 gal [48.8 L] capacity. The pump does the job pushing 23 gpm [87.1 lpm] fluids in the hydraulics system.
