About the John Deere 60

The first John Deere 60 Tractors went out of the factory gates in 1952 and they kept building them until 1956. Sold initially at a price of $2500 (1956), the John Deere 60 Tractor had a few price variations, so if you got it for less, you found a great deal! We have all the parts you need for your John Deere 60 Tractor to keep it running. Make sure you have access to your tractor serial number, because there is a chance that the John Deere 60 parts you need depend on that serial number. Usually, the serial number is printed on the right side of tractor. Either on top of frame, below the distributor or in front of the belt pulley. That serial number is determined by the year of manufacturing, so for a 1952 model, it starts with 6000001, for a 1953 model it starts with 6007694, for a 1954 model it starts with 6027995, for a 1955 model it starts with 6042500, for a 1956 model it starts with 6057650. Some John Deere 60 Tractors have a 4x2 2WD chassis, but there are also some with a power optional (1954 on) chassis, all equipped with manual steering. They also have differential mechanical expanding shoe brakes. The 3-point hitch is very reliable. It is also worth noting that the transmission rear PTO runs at 540 (1.375) rpms. The John Deere 60 has a Powr-Trol hydraulics system with a 1.5 gal [5.7 L] capacity. The pump does the job pushing 8.9 gpm [33.7 lpm] fluids in the hydraulics system.
