About the John Deere 8970

The first John Deere 8970 Tractors went out of the factory gates in 1993 and they kept building them until 1996. Make sure you have access to your tractor serial number, because there is a chance that the John Deere 8970 parts you need depend on that serial number. Usually, the serial number is printed on the left side of tractor hinge. That serial number is determined by the year of manufacturing, so for a 1993 model, it starts with 1001, for a 1994 model it starts with 1991, for a 1995 model it starts with 2995, for a 1996 model it starts with 6001. They also have hydraulic wet disc brakes. The 3-point hitch is very reliable. It is also worth noting that the independent (optional) rear PTO runs at 1000 (1.75) rpms. The John Deere 8970 has a closed center pressure compensated hydraulics system with a 38 gal [143.8 L] capacity. The pump does the job pushing 44.8 gpm [169.6 lpm] fluids in the hydraulics system.
