About the Massey Ferguson 175

Massey Ferguson started producing the 175 Tractor in 1964 and continued until 1975. Make sure you have access to your tractor serial number, because there is a chance that the Massey Ferguson 175 parts you need depend on that serial number. Usually, the serial number is printed below instrument panel on steering column. That serial number is determined by the year of manufacturing, so for a 1964 model, it starts with 644000001, for a 1965 model it starts with 644001494, for a 1966 model it starts with 644003041, for a 1967 model it starts with 9A1000, for a 1968 model it starts with 9A39836, for a 1969 model it starts with 9A63158, for a 1970 model it starts with 9A87325, for a 1971 model it starts with 9A107597, for a 1972 model it starts with 9A128141, for a 1973 model it starts with 9A152025, for a 1974 model it starts with 9A179544, for a 1975 model it starts with 9A207681. They also have mechanical disc brakes. The type II 3-point hitch is very reliable, capable to lift 3,370 lbs [1528 kg]. It is also worth noting that the live*Two-stage clutch rear PTO runs at 540 rpms.

The Massey Ferguson 175 tractor replaced the popular 165 model when it finished production. The MF 175 was also a successful tractor, lasting for 11 years until 1975 when its production run ended and the 275 model took over. The tractor has a choice of engine, which can be either the Perkins A4.236 diesel engine or the Perkins AG4.236 gasoline engine. The first option is a 4-cylinder liquid-cooled: 3.9 liter for an Engine Size and sitting on 2WD Chassis - this would be the Perkins A4. There were two transmissions available for the Massey Ferguson 175. The more common one had 6 gears forward and 2 in reverse, while a Multi Power transmission had 12 forward gears and 4 in reverse. The MF175's category 2, 3 point hitch has a maximum lifting capacity of 1528 kg (3370 lbs). The Massey Ferguson 175 weighs up to 5925 pounds with the gas power engine while weighing up to 6125 pounds with diesel. Maximum safe load is 9555 lbs. The MF 175 is 1.84 meters in width (72.8 inches) while it's 3.5 meters long (138 inches). The wheelbase measures 2.08 meters (81.9 inches), but the MF 175 does not come with a roll bar by default, so many farmers welded one on themselves which complicates repair In the 1940s, these tractors were popular and they remain so today. Farmers in particular still find them to be a great machine for farming - you may even see one on someone's property when not at a farmers' show.
