About the Massey Ferguson 240
Massey Ferguson started producing the 240 Tractor in 1980 and continued until 1999. Sometimes, the parts compatibility is determined by the serial number of your Massey Ferguson 240 Tractor, and that info should be listed on the part fit notes. If you don't have the serial number of your tractor, you can find it on the instrument panel, lower right. The serial number starts from 524172 for a 1983 model, from 552016 for a 1984 model, from 557882 for a 1985 model, from 862369 for a 1986 model, from U01001 for a 1986 (late) model, from V01001 for a 1987 model, from N01001 for a 1988 model, from P01001 for a 1989 model, from R01001 for a 1990 model, from S01001 for a 1991 model, from A01001 for a 1992 model, from B01001 for a 1993 model, from C01001 for a 1994 model, from D01001 for a 1995 model, from E01001 for a 1996 model, from F01001 for a 1997 model, from G01001 for a 1998 model. Some Massey Ferguson 240 Tractors have a 4x2 2WD chassis, but there are also some with a 4x4 MFWD 4WD, differential mechanical wet disc (late) chassis, all equipped with hydrostatic power steering. They also have mechanical drum (early) brakes. The type II/I 3-point hitch is very reliable. It is used with a position and draft control. It is also worth noting that the live (two-stage clutch) rear PTO runs at 540 rpms. The Massey Ferguson 240 has an open hydraulics system with a 8.6 gal [32.6 L] capacity. The pump does the job pushing 9.5 gpm [36.0 lpm] fluids in the hydraulics system.
