The Massey Ferguson 245 tractor was made during a 7 year production period from 1976 to 1983. It succeeded the Massey Ferguson 235 and was succeeded by the 250 model.
The MF 245 has two engine choices - a Continental gasoline engine and a tractor diesel. The gas 4-cylinder, 2.4 liter liquid cooled 12 volt battery starter can be started with ease to power the machine.
The other engine choice is the Perkins Ad3.152 diesel engine. This also has natural aspiration, but it is a 3-cylinder that displaces 2.5 liters of air per revolution (L/min).
This engine is also cooled by a liquid cooling system that will need 10 liters of coolant to work optimally.
In order to lubricate the engine, this vehicle needs 7 liters of oil. The engine has air intake filters made from paper and felt in order to keep dust and other particles out of the combustion chamber. This engine's maximum power output is 40 hp.
The MF 245 can carry 12.7 gallons of fuel, and the power reaches the wheels through 2 transmission choices.
Many people choose to buy the Massey Ferguson 245 because it comes with a variable transmission which offers 12 gears when driving forward and four in reverse.
The maximum speed of this tractor in reverse is 11.3 mph, while its best speed is 22.3 mph.
To operate properly, the Massey Ferguson 245 requires 25 liters (6.6 US gallons) of hydraulic fluid. The MF 245 weighs 1769 kilograms (3900 pounds) when equipped with a gasoline engine and 1837 kilograms (4050 pounds) when equipped with diesel engine.
The tractor’s width is 74.5 inches at its widest point and 126.5 inches in length.
